Today, a horror story — what started as an incredible deal, later turned into an utter disappointment. Two days ago I came across this deal of getting a factory refurbished Logitech MX5000 Laser for as low as $60 CAD (the MSRP is $200 CAD) — needless to say this sounded like an awesome opportunity to upgrade. For more than a year I am a happy owner of Logitech MX3100 Keyboard + MX1000 Laser Mouse. I had never experienced any problems with Logitech products, in fact, I really enjoyed their approach to the interface design and the functionality they deliver. Well, at least till today. Nevertheless, I decided to upgrade to what looked like the next generation of my current setup. Bad move! And I will tell you why.
Continue readingAll of a sudden Flickr has all of my thumbnail images messed up. Some of the pictures in the photostream are replaced with random images. However, the original picture is still there when you click on the thumbnail. Few moments later I get this:

[Update] Aha, Flickr has posted the explanation.
Is Rogers Inc. blocking YouTube or is it me glitching? I am trying to open YouTube website from my home workstation which is hooked up to the internet via Rogers Canada ISP. The browser waits indefinitely to open the web page. However, accessing the website directly by IP address opens it instantly. Rogers is known for past attempts of blocking and shaping traffic to various popular resources (BitTorrent, podcasts). The current situation is also very suspicious.
Yet another example of how important a single comma can become. Not suprising that a mind-twisting language of lawyers would play an evil joke on themselves. Rogers Communications Inc. now faces to pay an extra $2.13-million all due to a punctuation problem in the contract. “The Globe and Mail” has the story.
One thing I wonder, whether the other party, Alliant, would win in the long term. It wouldn’t be suprising that other companies avoid making deals with them from now on.
