About... about...
...about page is sort of a cliché and this one is not an exception. The only reason there is one is because once you have created an about page for your website it is going to stick around forever.
Ok, to the point — to the right is the technical (and sometimes not so technical) blog, to the left is more of a research "mathematicians-only-allowed" corner. There is also an attic upstairs (lots of junk there anyways). The directions are with respect to this strange space with non-Euclidian geometry.
Who is behind the mess?
The one to blame is commonly known under the name of Oleg Grodzevich. A person who tries to combine mathematics, computer sciences, and the real world out there. He can't survive long without creating something, and this website is both a polygon and a playground.
Besides doing his PhD in Operations Research in the University of Waterloo, he is a co-founder of ARPA Software, a consulting company specializing in the development of customized solutions to address non-trivial real-life problems that require both mathematics and computer sciences expertise to tackle them.
Currently Oleg can be found in the neighborhood of Toronto, Canada. Feel free to contact him if there is anything you want to know or to ask.
The site...
The mindon.net website was born back in 2000 when Oleg started experimenting seriously with web technologies. It has seen a number of reincarnations since then, but always was used as a platform for further experiments. It might not be long before another wave of changes coming.
The site is (partially) powered by Movable Type publishing platform and is designed with web standards in mind (should validate as a strict HTML 4.01). Static pages are stored as XML files and cooked to perfection HTML via XSL transformation and some magic.
